How did you decide which country/program to study abroad in?
I wanted to go somewhere that was filled with activities and I chose Barcelona because I speak the language.
What were you excited about and/or nervous about before your program?
I was excited to finally get on a plane and see the world, but I was nervous to leave home for so long and leave my family and friends behind.
What was your favorite place that you traveled to or an activity you did while abroad?
My favorite place that I traveled to was Montecarlo and my favorite activity while abroad was going to a Champions League soccer game between Barcelona and Napoli.
How do you think the intersections of your identities and values impacted your study abroad experience? Do you have any tips to share with future study abroad students?
I think being a first gen college student and studying abroad were very similar experiences because both times I was in a completely new world, with people that came from a lot more money and were already well traveled but it was a challenge I was willing to accept with open arms.
Could you articulate one personal/professional/academic goal you achieved while abroad?
A personal goal that I was able to achieve while abroad was continuing to get myself outside my comfort zone and the most of my four years in college. I was very nervous to go abroad and almost ended up not going but I am glad I chose to go. I was able to experience so many new cultures, make new friends from all over the world and I came back home with an entirely new perspective.
